As a public school district, our goal is to safely keep buildings open for in-person learning. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to close unexpectedly due to inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. This message contains important information so our families can be prepared in the event of an unexpected closing.
E-Learning Day or Snow Day?
Selmaville CCSD #10 has an approved E-Learning Plan located on our district website. An E-Learning Day means that school will be closed and staff and students will engage in remote teaching and learning. In the event an E-Learning Day is called, more information will be shared by the district and the school.
In an effort to be responsive to doing what's best for our students and staff, if a Snow Day is called, staff and students will NOT engage in remote teaching and learning.
How Decisions are Made
District Administration monitors developments, such as weather conditions, to prepare for an E-learning Day, if needed. The Superintendent will announce the possibility of an E-Learning Day as soon as practical. This will provide time for staff to gather resources and prepare accordingly. It will also allow families to make necessary arrangements.
Once the possibility of an E-Learning Day has been announced, the Superintendent will continue to monitor the weather forecast closely. As soon as it becomes clear that we will not be able to hold school in person, a final decision to hold an E-Learning Day will be made and another announcement will go out to staff and families.
Activities, practices, and rehearsals which occur outside of the normal school day would be addressed on a case-by-case basis when an E-Learning Day is confirmed.
